Call for the collection of educational experiences

cover of The value of risk in education: stories from educational services and schools of all levels

On the occasion of the 14th edition of Outdoor Education as part of the Conference Beyond 'Zero Risk'. Outdoor education between responsibilities, possibilities and new scenarios scheduled for Saturday, December 12, 2026 at the Filla Auditorium, a call is launched to collect and enhance educational practices focused on the theme and the value of risk.
The deadline for submitting contributions is 20 November 2026.

Why a risk call?

In contemporary culture, we tend to perceive risk in an almost exclusively negative sense, seeking a “zero risk” that risks making girls and boys less able to recognize dangers, to evaluate them and to develop autonomy.

Pedagogical research invites a change of perspective: from risk as a threat to 'beneficial risk'. Experiences such as risky play, autonomous mobility, exploration and direct contact with nature allow you to challenge your limits, build trust, competence and resilience. The task of education is not to make the lives of the little ones as safe as possible, but as safe as necessary.

Outdoor education represents a privileged context in which risk can be accepted and transformed into a learning opportunity.

Objectives of the Call

  • Collect and enhance educational experiences on the intentionality of risk;
  • Give voice and visibility to outdoor education practices in educational services and schools;
  • Build a common heritage of narratives, reflections and documentation between theory and practice;
  • Feed the comparison between 0-6 services, first and second cycle schools, territory and families on the balance between protection and possibility;
  • Bring contributions to the 14th edition of “Safe outdoor education” and the conference of December 12, 2026.
