Books and periodicals

THE POLO BOLOGNESE SBN CATALOGUE (National Library Service)
It contains all books that have been acquired or catalogued since 1961.
The old books and many periodicals that entered the library before 1961 have been only partially recovered in the Polo Bolognese SBN Catalogue: consult therefore also the "Frati - Sorbelli" historical catalogue, the online catalogue of periodicals or contact the librarians.

THE "FRATI - SORBELLI" HISTORICAL CATALOGUE
It contains the description of printed heritage (including periodicals) acquired or catalogued by 1960.
NB: many antique books (if acquired since 1961) are described in the most recent catalogues of the library.
The paper file is placed in the hall adjacent to the Reading Room and it was set up during Luigi Frati's running (1858-1902) and continuing during the years when Albano Sorbelli (1904-1943) was the director. The online version was created in 2001.

THE CATALOGUE OF THE PERIODICALS OF THE ARCHIGINNASIO
It contains the periodicals of the Library.
Current periodicals are available in the Polo Bolognese SBN Catalogue.

THE CATALOGUE OF THE INCUNABULA
The incunabula of the Archiginnasio are indicated:
- In the indexes of the magazine "L'Archiginnasio"
- In the "Indice generale degli incunaboli delle biblioteche d'Italia" ("General index of the incunabula of the Italian libraries"), volumes 1-4
- In the "Frati - Sorbelli" historical catalogue
- In the Polo Bolognese SBN Catalogue and in the SBN - Antique book Catalogue
- In the online database IISTC of the British Library

"THE ALDINE" CATALOGUE (PDF)
It contains Aldo Manuzio's editions owned by the Archiginnasio

THE CATALOGUE OF ARIOSTO'S EDITIONS OF THE ARCHIGINNASIO (PDF)
It contains the ancient and modern editions of Ariosto in Archiginnasio

THE "CINQUECENTINE" CATALOGUE
The Cinquecentine are described:
- In the "Frati - Sorbelli" historical catalogue
- In the Polo Bolognese SBN Catalogue and in the SBN - Antique book Catalogue
- In "Le edizioni italiane del XVI secolo. Censimento nazionale" ("The italian editions of the 16th century. National census") - EDIT 16 - available also online
- In the magazine "L'Archiginnasio"

THE BOLOGNESE "SEICENTINE"
Bolognese editions printed between 1621 and 1700 of which the Archiginnasio Library possesses at least one copy that arrived in its collection before 1961.

THE BOLOGNESE "SETTECENTINE"
Eighteenth-century Bolognese editions that became part of the holdings of the Archiginnasio Library before 1961.

THE MALVEZZI CATALOGUE
It is a catalogue located in the atrium of the Reference Room. It contains files not included in the other catalogues and they regard 22,000 pamphlets (from the early 16th century to the 20th century), mostly concerning the Bolognese history and culture.
A project is underway to catalogue the Malvezzi's pamphlets in the catalogue of the Polo Bolognese SBN Catalogue.

The manuscripts

The Manuscripts of the special funds "Manuscripts A", "Manuscripts B", "Gozzadini" and "Malvezzi de' Medici" are described:
- In the "Inventari dei Manoscritti delle biblioteche d'Italia" ("Inventories of the Manuscripts of the Italian libraries"), Olschki edition
- In the guide to the special funds of the Archiginnasio "Fondi nel web" (the web funds)

drawings, prints, photographs and postcards

DRAWINGS
Inventory of the Palagi collection, inventory of the collection Drawings by Various Authors and inventory of the folder of the so-called Antolini drawings. For further information see the bibliography.

PRINTS
Inventory of the collection of Prints by Subject (17th-19th centuries), inventory of the collection of Prints of various authors (16th-19th centuries), inventory of the Gozzadini collection, inventory of the collections of portraits (with index of the characters depicted), inventory of the ex-libris. For more information see the bibliography. Most of the prints have been included in IMAGO - Regional Catalogue of Graphic Works of Libraries, Archives and Museums of Emilia-Romagna region. Most of the portraits, about 10,000, are reproduced in the FACIES digital archive.

MAPS
Inventory of plans and views of the city of Bologna and inventory of the maps of the territory. The exemplars in the best state of preservation are included in the database "Cartografia storica Bolognese" (Bolognese historical Cartography). For further information see the bibliography.

The iconographic material external to the Drawings and Prints Exhibition Room
The series of prints or volumes illustrated by engravings that have reached the library in different periods have been placed on the shelves of the rooms and are described in the "Frati - Sorbelli" historical catalogue and in the Polo Bolognese SBN Catalogue
